Genealogy

Members of the Muskegon County Genealogical Society will be available on Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. beginning in August to assist in genealogy record searches.  No appointment is necessary, just sign in and show your picture ID.

See main Clerk's page for office hours and closures.

Births, deaths or marriages which took place in Muskegon County are recorded and filed with the Muskegon County Clerk.  Births, deaths or marriages that took place in another county are on file in that county.

Search our Online Genealogical Death Indexing System to find out if we have a copy of a death certificate for records between the years 1865 and 1965.

The Local History and Genealogy Department of the Hackley Public Library has relocated across the street to the Torrent House. Please refer to the Muskegon County Genealogical Society for more information.

Another useful site for genealogy research is the Family Search website.

Military Thanks

Muskegon County Clerk and Staff thank Veterans, Armed Forces and their families for their service and the sacrifices they have made to keep our Country, "The Land of the Free!"
