Adoption

Adoptions are handled in the Family Division of Circuit Court.

Michigan law allows for several types of adoptions. The most common are step-parent, relative, adult and state and court ward adoptions. In the case of a step-parent adoption when all parties agree, the adopting parents may represent themselves. However, each case is unique; therefore it is strongly recommended that you seek legal counsel to aid you in this process.

National Adoption Day

November 22, 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of National Adoption Day.  President & CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Rita Soronen shares a message with everyone to commemorate the occasion.
