Inmate Property Release
Inmate property may be released to a third party upon written authorization from the inmate. Property releases will occur Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and from 12:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., or upon special authorization granted by a jail command officer.
Prison Ride Out Property Pickup
Due to property limitations imposed by the Michigan Department of Corrections and other law enforcement agencies, only that property acceptable by the MDOC will be sent with the inmate.
As a result, personal property for each inmate being turned over to other agencies or riding out to prison may be left at the Muskegon County Jail to be picked up by a person designated by the inmate. Before the inmate leaves the facility, the inmate will be required to complete a Muskegon County jail “Inmate Property Release Authorization” form. Personal property will be held for no longer than 15 days from the day of release from the Muskegon County Jail. After 15 days, the property will be disposed of.
