Muskegon County Airport (MKG) is a public-use facility owned and operated by the County of Muskegon to meet the current and future aeronautical needs of the West Michigan Shoreline region and its citizens. It is our mission to provide a safe, efficient, and user-friendly airport through:

  • Continuous maintenance, modernization, and development of airport infrastructure;
  • The promotion and development of air service and charter flight options;
  • The promotion of commercial, industrial, and aeronautical development;
  • Supporting business aviation and recreational aviation activities;
  • Responsiveness to customer and community concerns; and
  • Operating as a fiscally self-sustaining operation to the greatest extent possible.

The Airport serves a wide range of aviation activities including: 

  • Scheduled airline service
  • Scheduled casino charter flights
  • Private charter flights
  • Corporate & Business aviation
  • Flight training
  • Recreational aviation
  • Governmental flight activity (U.S Coast Guard and military)
  • Aircraft maintenance
  • Medical flights
  • Air cargo

Responsibilities

The Airport is responsible for: 

  • Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the airport
  • Managing the real property assets
  • Planning and development of the airport and its facilities
  • Preparing and implementing the airport budget
  • Seeking new commercial development and/or redevelopment of existing aviation properties
