Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) Bulbs
Fluorescent lamps, including Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs or
“CFL’s” contain trace amounts of mercury. While they use 75% less
energy, and last about ten times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs,
you should take care that they do not break and dispose of them safely.
CFL bulbs and fluorescent tubes, can recycled at
any Home
Depot or Lowes. Simply bring in your spent, unbroken bulbs and ask an
associate to point out the recycle container. The Public Health Department will also accept
unbroken, burnt out CFL bulbs for recycle in the Health Education
Office. For more information, please call (231) 724-6350.
The Muskegon County Household Hazardous Waste Program also
accepts spent fluorescent bulbs. Click here for hours and
location.
