Our Services

In addition to offering vaccination services to the public, we:

  • Oversee the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program in Muskegon County
  • Administer the Michigan Adult Vaccine Program (MI-AVP) in Muskegon County
  • Implement activities to prevent the spread of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) from mother to newborn
  • Collaborate with others to promote childhood, adolescent and adult immunization activities
  • Assure that vaccination records are entered into the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)
  • Monitor immunization rates and implements strategies for addressing rates of special populations
  • Issue reminders to parents when children are due for vaccinations
  • Offer immunization nurse education to medical offices

We also work closely with the communicable disease program to:

  • Identify and intervene in outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases
  • Coordinate rabies vaccination for anyone bitten by an unvaccinated animal or exposed to an animal with unknown rabies vaccination status
  • Provide tuberculosis (TB) skin testing
  • Offer immunization services to anyone seeking sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing, family planning, or women, infant, and children (WIC) services
